In a day filled with surprises, fun, and just a tish of nerd, Molly and Tyler tied the knot and set off on their greatest adventure ever.
Molly and Tyler had different ideas for their nuptials, they didn’t want a cookie cutter wedding. They wanted a day that expressed who they really are: adorable, closet nerds, who love Scrabble, Legos, and each other. Molly worked with their wedding planner, Jayme from Beyond Elegance Events, to achieve a day that was truly them, truer than true (Seuss reference, you’ll get it later).
The day started off like many weddings, the bride getting ready in a hotel room with someone from Be Inspired Salon to do her hair and makeup. But soon, we got a taste for the surprises to come throughout the day when Molly and Tyler exchanged wedding gifts and letters. As Tyler was adjusting his cufflinks made from Scrabble letters and straightening his Lego boutonnière (seriously, Most. Adorable. Nerds. Ever.), he received a photo book from Molly. And, in another room, Molly received Tyler’s gift, the best way to any girl’s heart: pearls. Sigh. Nicely done, Ty.
After showing everyone that they’re the cutest ever, the almost-newlyweds headed outside to the Madison Club for their first look and then to the rooftop of the Monona Terrace for family photos. Heading inside the terrace for the ceremony, Molly emerged from a white, sheer doorway holding a bouquet wrapped with fabric from her mother’s wedding dress.
In a surprise for their guests, Molly’s the Maid of Honor’s father stepped up to the stage to perform the ceremony. With his brother as Best Man and Molly’s best friend from childhood standing by their sides, Molly and Tyler exchanged vows they wrote for each other backed with a wall of windows overlooking lake Monona.
Every University of Wisconsin grad knows the most sought-after wedding guest in the state of Wisconsin, and I assume, the world, is Bucky Badger. In yet another surprise for their lucky wedding attendees, Bucky showed up with his friends from the UW Marching Band in tow to help Molly and Tyler, both UW alum, celebrate their big day. Hold please, fangirling over here.
There’s never been a wedding quite like this one, full of wonder and awe, surprises and love. Now, I didn’t write a toast in the classic Seuss rhyming style like the maid of honor did (ahem, showoff), but I think it’s only appropriate to sum things up with the words of Dr. Seuss:
You’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!
~Oh, The Places You’ll Go!, Dr. Seuss
For the ceremony and reception, the Grande Terrace room was transformed with paper flowers from Etsy, and vintage china with hand-painted numbers for table markers.
