This couple of Madison locals made the most of Madison in the Summer for a fun, Badger-filled wedding.
Kate and her bridesmaids kicked off the day at Aniu Salon and Spa to get their hair done then headed back to the house to have lunch and continue primping festivities. Josh and his groomsmen hung out at Hotel Red. While the guys were getting ready, Josh received a handmade piece of art from Kate celebrating their wedding day.
Kate put on her red patent leather pumps and with a brother on each arm, headed down the aisle toward Josh at Bethel Lutheran on Wisconsin Avenue in the heart of Downtown Madison. The ceremony included a special remembrance for Kate’s father who passed away when she was younger. After the ceremony, the bridal party hoofed it to the Capitol to take pictures. The guys showed off their red argyle socks for the camera and posed for photos with some Kanye-style shade courtesy the bride, apparently someone is a fan of the Stunner of the Month Club.
Following more portraits at their reception site, Nakoma Country Club, the party got started. The best man’s speech had people rolling on the floor laughing. According to him, Josh was a bit of a ladies man and the speech had more than a few double entendres. Who knew driving style could be so dirty?
For these two University of Wisconsin alum, having Bucky play a part in their wedding was super important. But, apparently Bucky was otherwise engaged the evening of Kate and Josh’s wedding (I believe he had a date with Minnie Mouse, no one tell Mickey, apparently he’s quite jealous), but that didn’t keep them down. Since Bucky couldn’t be there in person, they had an ice sculpture in his image. And then there was the semi-terrifying Bucky head. Huh? What? What do I mean by Bucky head? Oh. That. Well, since Bucky couldn’t fit the wedding into his busy social schedule, someone scrounged up his head. His HEAD. Now, I’m not sure what events precipitated the appearance of Bucky’s head, nor will I implicate any guests, all I’ll say is, no Buckys were hurt in the amusement of these nuptials.
Making use of the expanse of space the golf course setting provided and the beautiful summer evening, guests released Chinese wish lanterns for the newlyweds, and the as the evening drew to a close, everyone was treated to a fireworks show.
As any good Badger fan knows, nothing gives you goose bumps more than hearing Varsity at the end of the 5th quarter. So, what better way to close out their perfect first evening of wedded bliss than by singing Varsity with their guests? U-Rah-Rah-Wis-Con-Sin!
No wedding in Madison would be complete without hittin’ up the Terrace (that’s the Memorial Union Terrace for all your noobs) for photos.
We got some awesome twilight shots of the newlyweds on the golf course. I think this was before they were terrorized by a headless Bucky.
